2013 December……..”Gustav, do you want to go to Cannes with me…for shopping!”
Carrie, a very good friend, asked me to go to Cannes and I jumped at the thought of it. The south of France is sexy and glam…..what more can a boy ask for.
For 2015, we decided we were going to go for 3 days. Leaving early Tuesday morning, we got picked up by our driver Philipe who takes such good care of us. Sunny Cannes, where every dog has a designer outfit and every woman looks like they walked through a wind tunnel because their faces don’t move.
We stayed at the Martinez where we got a warm welcome. I personally liked the hotel. You can see it’s been there for a long time. The staff were friendly, helpful and made you feel at home.
By 2pm, we were ready to shop. It’s sale season and my oh my there were some fabulous things. Unfortunately for me, I only got a pair of very nice shoes from Father & Sons. It’s a company I love and the sales assistant makes shopping very easy…….someone beautiful always gets you to buy more…#JustSaying.
our second day was one of the most emotional days I’ve had in a very long time. We walked into a store called Musae because I saw a Buddha I really liked. Inside, it was amazing! The energy in this store was so good. I got 3 Buddhas down and I liked all 3. At first I thought, I’ll buy one as a gift to my friend but I wasn’t sure he would like it. The lady who owns the store told me there is only 1000 of each Buddha and they are all numbered. They are designed for you to be reminded that we need to be happy and smile at the small things. I instantly fell in love with the idea. While I was contemplating to get one Carrie said “I’m buying you one, choose one”.
My budha’s number is 74. The owner told me that in numerology it’s a 2. That means it’s a continuous building on things I’ve started and growth for the future. It hit me straight in my heart and tears were flowing. Is this what art is meant to do to us. 3 hours later, I was still emotional. I know one thing, I fancy my Buddha big time…..he was definitely send for me.
That evening, we went to the local restaurant in the Martinez. The service was good but the food lacked. At least I had amazing company.
Sitting in the plane back to London, I feel excited for next year and wonder what beautiful and mischievous things will be in store for me until then.
