Fine hair is one of the most difficult hair textures to blow dry and to create volume.

If you have fine hair you should use a light shampoo and conditioner, and if your hair is dry at the ends use a volumizing shampoo with a moisturising conditioner.

Products

The best shampoos I have been using on my clients in the salon is Bain Volumateur aux Algues from Leonorl Greyl or the Body Building Weightless Shampoo from Philip Kingsley.

Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Create The Look

The first thing I recommend to do is take the nozzle off your hairdryer. People with fine hair does not need to every use a nozzle, you will dehydrate the hair and this will lead to little or no volume and no shine.

After your shampoo and conditioner you need to apply styling products to help with volume.

The best styling product  I have ever used for fine hair are the sprays from Leonor Greyl Condition Naturelle and Maximiser Root Volumizing from Philip Kingsley. They will give you amazing root lift and heat protection.

Rough dry or "blast dry" your hair without using a brush at a low speed and full heat, you can  do this with your head upside down for more volume.

Use a comb or your fingers to lift the roots from the scalp till the hair is 80% dry.

Finishing It Off

For a smoother finish use a round brush to blow dry the hair, use a wrap dry technique instead of a pull technique, this will help with volume. You can also pin curl the hair or use rollers.

Once you are finished pinning the hair use a diffuser for 3 min and let the hair cool down for 15-20 minutes. Take the pins out, you are now ready for a fabulous day out.

If this does not give you enough volume, here are some of my other favourite products to add extra volume: Slick Gorilla powder, Puff Me Volumising powder, Leonor Greyl Voluforme Spray.
